Lufthansa

Germanys largest airline asked for a new talk with the union Officals and therefore called the strike.
Lufthansa strikes as usual again. Tueday,2nd December and 4th December 2014 because they want to phase out ist early retirement scheme, which nearly all pilots oppose off. It will be the second time this week, while again 150,000 passengers tickets have been cancelled. From short till medium-haul flights as well as Lufthansas long-haul and carco flights. Lufthaansa strikes have been reoccuring a lot since April 2014, including this one it will be all together nine times in eigth months. By resulting a lost of $160 million of the airlines operating profit.
The reasoning for this strike is so far with the current situation oft he retirement at the age of 55 with receiving 60% of their usually income until the real retire age of 65.
Lufthansa is trying to keep up with this situation by giving their pilots a raise of 5%, which will later also raise their early retirement money. As they have hoped.
The union said "despite all efforts for compromise proposals" by Lufthansa pilots during several rounds of negotiations since October, it had been unable to come to a satisfactory agreement with the company's management.
After all the strikes that have been occuring, Lufthansa has cut down its operating profit guidance for 2015 because oft he concerns of their huge competiiton as well as because of the gobal economic slowdown.
Germany Airline Company Lufthansa - Model Siegesflieger
for the Worldcup 2014 winners of Germany
The guidance for this year has been 2 billion Euros, which wasnt reached this year despite of all the number of strikes that have been occuring this year from the pilots. The operating profit was 1 billion Euros. The Airline group expects the operating profit of 2015 to be a significant like 2014, with an profit of 1 billion Euros at least.
The carrier reportedthe operating profits from the last nine months which was up to849 million Euros, while the net profits increased 235 million Euros from last year (from 247 million to 482 million Euros).
So far has the airline Lufthansa been hit by 8 only pilot strikes by union Vereinigung Cockpit in a dispute to attempt to change the retirement as well as the pension arrangements.
Lufthansas market shares fell by 6% this morning.

This case study scopes a little bit around the Business Management Syllabus. First of all in this weeks new chapter 4, which is marketing has been represented by the market share of Lufthansa, which has been decreasing. As well as from chapter 1 the increased profit and operating profit of the company.

Labels:
Strategy: From Lufthansa to give a raise to the pilots that they stop to strike, which will stop the decreasing of the profit as well as the decreasing market share
Globalization: Is when the pilots strike so often and affect the planned flight, which are short, medium or long all around the world by the german airline.

ROYAL MAIL ISSUE

"We believe the current regulatory framework does not fully address the problem posed by unfettered direct delivery competition," Royal Mail said.

The shares in Royal Mail closed down to 8.3% after the organization has warned of rivals, including amazon, which is taking in all with the parcel delivery business.
Through the rise of delivery company Whistl could wipe them of 200pounds off sales. A pose of threat is also the competition with its government-mandated Universal Service, with their guarantees to deliver to all UK addresses for a low price. Through these issues the Royal Mail reported that there was a small fall in pre-tax profits. For example – dropped to 218punds for six months until the 28th September. In the last year it dropped to 233punds at the same time of the year.

Profit on 20.11.2014 till 10
Moya Greene, who is the boss of Royal Mail, reported that there is an increased competition. That is threatening the company’s abilities, to delivery all letter in all part of the UK.  The company has long called for the regulator, Ofcom to consider the option of expanding the Universal Service Mandate, which also ensure that the deliveries across the UK have one fixed price. Which includes forcing the competition to deliver letters to all rural areas, which prices are also affordable, which maybe will not give any profit.

Since the Company has been privatized in October 2013, it has been under increased public security, which affects their abilities of their services.

The royal mail named Whistle named them direct as a threat to their future profits. As well has the Company stated that the increasing parcel competition as amazon, which recently launched a lot of deliveries, could dent the business by much as 2% in a short amount of time. The last 6 months has the Royal Mail´s United Kingdom parcel delivery suffered by a fall of 1% of their revenues.  However did the company internationally increase their revenue up 7%, by having the overall revenue to rise by just 5pounds?

As reported has the executive chief Moya Greene said that if their is no action taken now, Royal Mail's ability to fund the six day letter delivery service across the UK will come under possibly unmanageable strain.
-       The threat is now –

This Article, although that it is just a small analysis of the problem that Royal mail is facing, has it shown the focus of marketing and objectives of their company. As well is it scoping around the income, process and output situation to increase their profit. These topics scope around this year’s business management syllabus.

The Label that I would give this article is:
Strategy: The strategy of the Royal Mail would be to increase their competition by offering a lower price delivery than normally.

The structure of the Company is put into 4 different parts the costumer, market place, online shop and the employees. Being one of the world best selling printing Company --> there needs to be a homepage in different languages. As of Spreadshirt their are 22 different ones available on the internet. The first Spreadshirt Company was founded in Leipzig.

Lukasz Godowski
The main Queater of Spreadshirt lays in Leipzig, which was founded in Mai 2001 by Lukasz Godowski and Matthias Spieß. Currently is the Company lead by Philip Rooke (CEO) and Tobias Schaugg (CFO). The Company while it was a GbR started with 200 employees but reached up to 500 employees in 2011. The head Quarter has set most of their employees in the
Matthias Speis
design department, less employees work at the production area in Leipzig. Altough that the Leipziger Spreadshirt Company is the main one but it is still the smallest one of their Quarters. Most production of their products takes place in different part of Germany, Polen and the USA. Even if the Company is placed all over the world it still sells every else the same products, only the advertisements are different, depending on the Country it is set. Alll of the quarters share the same aim.

The aim of the Company is "Your Text, Your Image on your product" which heads to the description that you can design the product of your choice how you want to wherever you are. The objectives is that all companies are set all around the world, to please the costumers with their chosen product/design and text as quickly as possible.

The vision of the company sis to provide a variety of products and the design for different events.
"Spreadshirt bietet Dir Hypnotisch Vision T-Shirt, die garantiert nicht jeder hat".
Theri mission is to impress everyone as designers, costumers, shop partners, employees and their industry. Spreadshirt wants to WOW their costumers, to show them a different aspect of design of personalized products.

The Company is organized into different departments as photography, Graphic design, ICT departments and different language departments for different country newsletters and the Hompage text also for the phone etc.
The Company seems well organized and works together with their stakeholers in projects because they aren't as developed yet.
Spreadshirt is  well organized with costume made products and in delivering the costumers goods in an express way worldwide. Their products go beyond just storage thats why Spreadshirt continues opening more production areas in Germany and Polen, that the production is quicker and can be easy shipped. Which gives them than the opportunity to launch more products.

SPREADSHIRT LEIPZIG
Altough that the Company doesn't take away a lot of space in Leipzig, they try to use as many resources as they can. For example solar energy for the light in the production area. The company doesn't waste materials, when the production made a mistake the products are given to a doss house or to the employees. Which gives the company an good image and therefore they also don't waste materials, which gives them only a less decreased output. The environment doesn't affect the company in any way, through being unstable in recycling waste materials and left over materials that aren't usable anymore.

The connection to our business management syllabus are the topics stakeholders, strategies, aim, objectives and marketing, which gives them the result in being the best of the best.

Spreadshirt is a stakeholder of Team Shirts and Yink, which is also included in their Company building in Leipzig. They share their ideas but not always do they use the same products ore sell them for the same price. As well is the Company well at marketing their products with commercials, Tv Spots, articles, and their varieties of sales on their homepage in different languages. Through having their different amount of shares at Yink and Team Shirt gives them a huge better income with just only Spreadshirt. Which can be re-invested for new projects, products and advertisement.
The Company has a well thought through strategy by having many different advertisements and tv-spots every where and also including gift cards and sales to increase the number of costumers.

My experience at Spreadshirt Leipzig was pretty impressive, through the Graphic Design Department I was in. I enjoyed meeting new people from different cultures - which was just like school. I gathered more experience in the graphic design department in this workplace, to see how the finished work of advertisements etc. look like and how they are made. Everything was pretty impressive.

LEJ DHL Hub

DHL is a logistic in division of the Deutsch Post providing express mails internationally. DHL Hub LEJ is sharing its location with the LEJ Airport. The founders of the organization in 1969 were Adrian Dalsey, Larry Hillbom and Robert Lynn (DHL). They personally delivered their first shipment of their country by themselves.
The first DHL logo didn't include the yellow background it was added in on 2008, when there were about 2000 employees at DHL Hub Leipzig. They reached up to 6000 employees in year 2012.

These are the 4 main parts of LEJ DHL Hub which all end up in Deutsche Post of DHL

In 1998, Deutsche Post bought 25% of DHL stocks to get from Brussel into Germany with continuing their stocks into 51% in 2001. In 2004 the DHL Hub LEJ joint ventures with Lufthansa Condor and later sharing their aircrafts with Lufthansa, British Airlines, Polar Air and Polar Air.
The Vision of the Company is to make the Costumers, use their service to deliver packages, to simplify the lives of their costumers, which is hard to deal with when the Companies are sprat over 120 Countries. By having their aim set up to “Deliver packages from one day to another worldwide as quick as possible”, that they provide their costumers with. Were as in Leipzig over 800 people work in the Warehouse every night to deliver over 250000 packages, flyers etc. very night in about 50 Airplanes that leave every night.

The company is well organized by express deliveries worldwide, forwarding in trucks, train and planes by the warehouse service that goes beyond just storage, that’s why DHL Hub Leipzig had it grand new opening on Monday 13th October 2014 for the second warehouse that is still getting prepared.
The company is divided into different departments as the Warehouse, deployment scheduling (PES), Sort Control, QCC, Communications (Event Manager), Equipment department, Network Control Center (NCC), Hangar, Apron Crews, which include the dispatch, scheduling crew for the pilots and airplanes.

Although the Company takes in a lot of space including the apron, they try to use as many resources as they can as rain water, they recycle, saving energy and using thermal energy, to reduce the costs of the Company to get more income. That the company can reinvest their profit into new project as the Leipzig Hub invested into their new Warehouse because there is a lack of space, which gives them weakness.

The connection to our Business Management syllabus is the topic stakeholders, the objectives, their aim and their strategy that they are able to deliver 160000 Tonnes of packages every night from Leipzig Hub into 120 different countries, which is an pretty amazing number.

The LEJ DHL Hub includes an Air and a Land side. The Land side is used for offices for different departments as Communication and Human Resources. Were as The Air Side - which requires every time you go there a massive security check to go onto the Apron or the Warehouse etc.

1st Warehouse at LEJ DHL Hub
The Company is being global by sending flyers, mails etc. over airplanes all around the world, which makes them worldwide as well as the strategy to provide and meet the needs of the costumers that they will choose their service again. The change in LEJ DHL Hub is the new Warehouse and they keep expanding their area.

Kalitta Air (the model we went into)

My experience at LEJ DHL Hub was pretty impressive through going into different departments, meeting new people and seeing the strategy´s they are using to solve some problems. I gathered more experience in this workplace, to see how the packages are able to get to the right person, what actually is behind all the activities they do in the Company. The most exiting part was the Apron Tour, were we went into a B747-400 Kalitta Airline plane (A300), which is impressive to see. It were mazing and exiting at workplace for 2 days, even if we got to many information´s we couldn’t handle at once.

The main Hubs  opened in Canada (1976-77) / West Europe (1971-72) / Mexico (1978) / Africa (1979) / Middle East (1976-77) and Asia (1971-73), these were the first Hubs in there region.

The lawsuit in U.S. District Court, Southern District of New York is Microsoft Corp vs. Samsung Electronics

How it seems like, is Samsung having a difficult time over a smartphone patent royalities lawsuit with Microsoft.

Court House in New York City

On Friday, it had been decided in New York City that Samsung need to pay Microsoft an interest of US$ 6.9 million. A huge deal is going on between Samsung and Microsoft over a Nokia Deal.

The reports say, that it is a huge deal – Samsung stopped paying the royalty payments on time without interest, even when there had been an agreement since 2011, which Samsung offically signed.

San Francisco – Microsoft Corp is now trying everything that Samsung must pay an interest of more than $1 billion in royalty payments.
Which may work, but Samsung wont let them get through with that, because Microsoft announced a Nokia deal in September 2013. The deal hasnt been discusted, which gave the right to Samsung to refuse another payment.

The Samsung/ Microsoft Article, although that it is a very small anaylysis of a huge issue, which continued into a law suit. It shows a focus on objectives on agreements, which have been broken or refused to make. Which scopes around the Syllabus oft he two year program of Business Management. As the Accounts and Finance and the the organisation of the Companys.

The Fact that Samsung and Microsoft are huge companies know around the whole world, will give both of them a bad image, for both breaking the agreement and refusing to pay the interest, which were decided together.  Which shows the labels globalization, innovation, strategy.

Globalization: that the news about the law suit, will reach everyone around the world very quickly.

Innovation: For Miscrosoft having a deal with Nokia

Strategy: That Miscosoft files a law suit against Samsung to get money, even if they also broke the agreement.
