The Leipzig Early Childhood Center is a non-profit
company, which is an co-educational Kindergarden that is connected to Leipzig
International School. A new building for the Early childhood center, after
relocating from Leipzig International School was built at Karl-Heine Strasse 95
in Plagwitz, about 1.5 km away from the main building. The ECC building had it
official opening on 24.September 2014, but about 100 kids from the youngest one
moved into the building on the end of June 2014.
The mission of the ECC is shared with Leipzig
International School by being able to provide high quality international
education conducted in English, to children of all backgrounds, thereby
supporting the regional community and promoting the international understanding.
As well did they set their motto to "Learning
to be a citizen of the world".
The early childhood center aims are as their mission, by letting the kids/children interact with each other in English with children from all over the world with different backgrounds. English is their shared language, even if many children speak different languages.
The objectives are to create a safe and stimulating
learning environment, to help the children to be happy, well-balanced and
interact with other children willingly and effectively. As well as to start
educate the children to think and act with openness to different perspectives,
values and traditions of other cultures and communities. Furthermore are the
children/students enable to understand and express their selves in more than
one language.
The early childhood center is organized in two
different buildings as The Leipzig International School from Grade 1-12 and the
Childhood center, which is decided into many different departments. Nursery 1
(age 1-2), Nursery 2 (age 2-3), Early Years 1 (age 3-4), Early Years 2 (age
4-5) and the Early Years 3 (age 5-6), which will enter the first Grade at the
main building the year after that.
In fact that the International Schools are know all
over the world, is the Early childhood center affected by the external
environment, in case of the the world awareness as well s the increasing
awareness of the international Kindergarten in Leipzig. Which therefore leads
to expanding the kindergarten, which has already happened at LIS. Due too many
kids in the early childhood, did the E.V. expand the campus, which lead to more
investment into the early childhood in the last year and the year before
that.
The Early childhood center provides a service of kids education and children supervision from the age of 1 year up to the age of 6 until they start with primary school.
The head of the Early Childhood center in Leipzig
is Laura Willms-Jones and the head of Primary School/ Early Childhood is Sarah
Brannon.
The experience that I have gathered at the Early
Childhood center is, that it is sometimes challenging to deal with 10-20 people
in one group, but this is what the teachers/ educators are trained for.
The links that can be made with the business at the Early Childhood
Center and our Business Management course is the set up of an business plan as
well as providing services to different people as after "school"
activities as well as the normal services as education.
10/12 - very good overview and a super identification of the aims and objectives of the ECC. I just feel a bit more business analysis of the organisation would be needed for 12pts - at the moment it is rather descriptive. How is it marketed? What is the USP etc.
